About the role

DWF Claims Counsel Job Description

 

DWF is a global company that provides integrated business and legal services. DWF Claims is seeking candidates for General and Professional Liability Claims Specialist positions. This role is responsible for investigating, evaluating and resolving liability insurance claims. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze liability, damages, coverage and develop resolution strategies.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review, investigate and evaluate claim notices, incident reports, correspondence, investigative reports, and various technical documents to determine coverage, liability exposure, and resolution strategies.
  • Establish and maintain claim reserves.
  • Manage and coordinate litigation by hiring defense counsel and required experts, review of draft pleadings, litigation plans, budgets and invoices.
  • Document all contacts, communications, claim transactions, and otherwise maintain electronic claim files.
  • Some travel may be required for participation in mediation of claims and client visits.
  • Prepare reports to management, clients and other designated recipients- strong writing skills required.

About you

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • JD Degree
  • 5 years of experience

Licensing

 

Bar licensing is required. Candidates must also be able to become licensed as independent claims adjusters in various states. Candidates cannot have a criminal background, or ever been subject to professional discipline. Final applicants subject to background check.
