We offer a hybrid working arrangement with 2 or 3 days working from the office in Manchester, and 2 or 3 days from home.

About the role

As a Payroll Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • To work alongside our payroll providers to ensure the timely and accurate completion of the monthly payrolls, ensuring that processes are adhered to and accuracy of payroll data is certified; working to tight deadlines and challenging SLAs
  • Delivery of an efficient and effective payroll service, ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time
  • Respond to Payroll queries through our Query Management System, ensuring timely and accurate resolution, with professionalism and quality maintained throughout all activity
  • Process starters, leavers, absences, monthly changes, and calculate payments such as overtime, statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, Pensions and other adjustments.
  • To liaise closely with colleagues in the finance department, ensuring that monthly reconciliations for budget purposes are undertaken
  • To produce detailed management reports as required by the Senior Management team across DWF
  • Recommend improvements to process and service, support implementation of improvements
  • Support any ad-hoc projects as required

About you

Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience of processing payrolls in a medium to large organisation
  • Full understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, Taxable Benefits, Auto Enrolment & HMRC reconciliations
  • Passionate to provide high quality customer service
  • Self-motivated, flexible and demonstrating strong evidence of a collaborative working style
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel
  • Some knowledge of international payrolls would be advantageous but is not essential
