Our Global Risk team at DWF provide expertise in Healthcare Litigation and are currently hiring for a Paralegal Role within their National Healthcare team.

The Healthcare team have a team presence in offices across Newcastle, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, London and Manchester and the role can be based at any of these offices on a hybrid working basis (being in the office 1-2 days per week).

About the role

The role presents significant opportunities for training, growth and development in a unique team at the forefront of Healthcare litigation, which has enjoyed significant success and acts for a wide range of clients (NHS Trusts, insurers, insureds, regulators, Royal Colleges, defence organisations, PCTs and medical professionals) on the defence side. The team draws on opportunities to act for DWF’s wide client base, while keeping its sights firmly set on continuing to win new business in this rapidly evolving, most interesting area.

You will be working within a team which enjoys a wide variety of work, with indemnifiers and insurers.

The successful candidate will have experience of undertaking a supporting fee earning role for a Healthcare team ideally (but not essential) with experience in Healthcare litigation; The role offers also the prospect of running lower value claims , with training and mentoring provided to assist the team. If you are currently familiar with medical negligence and have an interest in paralegal progression with development of your legal knowledge and drafting skills, we would like to hear from you.   

Responsibilities and skills required:

  • Providing administrative and claims support to fee earners
  • Using the appropriate platforms to upload and download files / documents
  • Monitoring busy mailboxes
  • Assisting with diary management and arranging conferences
  • Reviewing medical records and drafting chronologies
  • Drafting correspondence and court documents
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Proven record of handling sensitive records and data
  • Excellent organisation skills
